Charisse Palmer

Charisse began dancing at the age of 4, she is a graduate of Benjamin N. Cardozo High School and Long Island University. Charisse has been trained in Ballet, Tap, Lyrical, African and Hip-Hop dance. She has been teaching at DeVore for over 10 years.

Cynchee Estrada

Cynchee began dancing at 2 years of age at DeVore Dance Center, where she now teaches. 

She is a graduate of Benjamin N. Cardozo High School, and is currently attending Queens College and holds a 3.7 GPA.  

Cynchee has been a backup dancer for Remy Martin, and Ashanti under the choreographer Brice Vick.

Katrina Pettiford

Katrina began dancing at the age of 5, and is a graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardiaHigh School for Music and the Performing Arts. 

In May 2010 she graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a degree in Dance.  Katrina has performed at the "Apollo Theater",

MTV's "My Super Sweet 16", and is an apprentice dancer in the Balance dance company. She has trained in Ballet, Tap, Modern, African, Jazz and Hip- Hop dance.

Isis Chinnery

Isis Chinnery was born and raised in Flushing, New York. She begin studying dance in 1986. She has gone on to study and perform at some of the most prestigious cultural centers and institutions. Isis Chinnery extends her impact in the world of dance with an extensive career training and teaching at Devore Dance Center. Working with young dancers Isis  pursues the mission of  building a legacy of self - growth and confidence in her dancers. In 2012 Isis became the founder and owner of Isis Chinnery Dance school.

Alana Butler

Alana Butler began her dance training at the age of two at Queens School of Theatrical Arts under the direction of Kim Taylor and Edna Goode. In 1987, she transferred over to the Bernice Johnson Cultural Arts Center and was member of the performing class, Junior Pro. While at Bernice Johnson, she studied under Carolyn DeVore, Kevin Hunt, and Bryan Hawthorne. Alana attended Benjamin N. Cardozo High School and was part of the Dance Performance Program. At that time, she also began training at the DeVore Dance Center as part of WSII. Alana then went on to study at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA where she received a dance scholarship. She received her BA in Business and minored in Dance. While at Temple, she made the Varsity Diamond Gems dance team as a freshman and competed in the Division 1 Dance Team Nationals in Daytona, Fl. She is thrilled to be back “home” at DeVore Dance Center sharing her love and passion for dance with her students.

Karen Farnum-Williams

Karen P. Farnum-Williams is a native of Queens, NY.  Karen attended LaGuardia High School of the Performing Arts and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree from Adelphi University.  Karen also obtained a Master’s of Arts degree in Performing Arts Administration from New York University. Currently, Karen is employed as the Student Affairs Officer at Dance Theatre of Harlem, in NYC.  She also teaches in public and private schools and works with dance ministries, as well as teaching in local dance schools.  Karen is a co-director and co-choreographer of the Allen Liturgical Dance Ministry.  In 2006, Karen founded Kaphar  (Hebrew translation of reconciliation) Dance Company which is a ministry established to affirm, confirm, and transform lives through the seamless marriage of technical dance movement and the Word of God.

Karen is married to Lloyd G. Williams and the mother of Kadin Lloyd.


Daniel Chisolm

Daniel Chisolm born in Brooklyn, New York, a Graduate Of Bronx Community College/York College...Studied. Voice..Performed with many major choirs & choruses in the Tri-state area. I have Hustled for many years and have won numerous Hustle contest. l can be seen on many videos all over city hustling. My Passion is Hustling... l am Actor, Model, Singer, Vocal Coach born under the Sign of Aries...

Luis Estevez

Luis "ChaCha" Estevez is a dancer chasing the dream of becoming one of the greatest choreographers in NYC as well as international. Luis started teaching at DeVore Dance Center in 2013 and has grown an unbreakable love for the dance school and overall an unbreakable bond with the students. He graduated from High School with a regents diploma. All his life as a teenager he has been training and learning from his favorite and one of the best choreographers in NYC and then decided to follow their footsteps and have the same success they had and more. Luis likes to incorporate the elements, skills, and technique he learned in his previous dance classes and create his own style of dance, and continues to take class to better himself as a dancer as well as choreography. He has performed at all the top dance showcases in NYC such as Sybarite, Carnival, World of Dance, and countless competitions with one of the tops groups in NYC. As of now he's one of the choreographers of our very own "Project DeVore" and is doing a very great job with our kids. He's amazingly gifted with many styles such as Hip-Hop, Street Jazz, Vogue, Heels, African, House, & currently getting back into Ballet and Modern. All his life he always has been the youngest dancer in every dance project he participated in. He may be young and still has a lot more to do, but he's more then ready to rock the dance industry and as he would say "GO AWFFFF".


Chantel D. Hoyte

Chantel D. Hoyte of Jamaica, Queens NY. Chantel attended Benjamin N. Cardozo High School which she graduated in 2003, and currently attends Berkeley College studying Criminal Justice.  Chantel works for a construction/repair/and management company called Global Facility manager as a Team Representative,  and has been a member for Devore Dance Center since 2000, and teaching dance for over 14 years.


Kiara Ross

Kiara Ross was born in Queens, New York where she began training in performing and visual arts at The Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning.  At the age of four, Ms. Ross studied keyboard, singing, and drawing.  While studying music and art, Kiara Ross was also enrolled in multiple dance classes as such ballet, tap, hip-hop, and modern.  Along with those styles of dance, Ms.Ross was trained in jazz, West African and Afro Caribbean dance by Micheal Manswell at JCAL.  As a teenager she attended Benjamin N. Cardozo High School as a dance major.  In 2006 Ms. Ross was accepted into the Performing class under the supervision of Carolyn DeVore. 

After graduating, Kiara Ross attended Queensborough Community College where she graduated with her Associates degree in Liberal Arts.  Upon graduating, Ms. Ross became Group Fitness Certified with accredited National Board of Fitness Examiners affiliate, Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and began teaching dance and fitness classes. Kiara Ross also holds certifications in CPR,/AED, First Aid, Kickboxing, FuzeCraze, & MAD DOGG SPINNING . She has created her own class called, Soca AFRO-bics under her brand, The Kross Movement. She currently teaches that class and others at YMCA, Cross Island Fitness Center and has given workshops for Retro Fitness, Q Fitness, Maceus Studios, Ripley Grier Studios, PMT Dance Studios, & Tizana’s Body Renewal. Ms. Ross teaches at Crunch Fitness as well.  Before teaching adult fitness classes, Ms. Ross began teaching children dance for Kiddy Corner, CCS Montessori, Young & Fit Kids at Cross Island Fitness Center, It’s Dance, and Police Athletic league as an intern and dance specialist.

Also upon graduating Ms. Ross joined Harambee Dance Company where she performed at Symphony Space, Wofabe, International African Arts Festival, The Hunger Project, Syracuse State Fair, Dance Africa 2013 and Dance Africa Pre show 2014.  Currently Kiara Ross is still teaching dance and fitness while managing her own dance group, CarNYval Dancers.  She has choreographed for the 2014 Labor Day Parade and is currently working with upcoming soca and dancehall artists. Ms. Ross will be graduating from Queens College in December 2014 with a Bachelors of Arts as a dance major. Ms. Ross anticipates obtaining her Masters degree to help her continue to learn about her craft and to share it with others as she does today.


Melodee Rodriguez

Melodee Starr Rodriguez is a young versatile dancer/choreographer that has been dancing for the past 16 years in various styles. She started at a local studio Rising stars dance studio and studied there for seven years competing with the company class. After graduating the 8th grade she went on and took her career a little more serious and went to Benjamin N. Cardozo High School for their dance program graduating in 2011. Now she is expecting to graduate December 2014 from Queensborough community college as a dance major earning a degree in visual and performing arts. Melodee is presently the dance specialist at The Boys and Girls Club of Metro Queens, teaching grades k-12. She expects to go on and obtain her BFA and Master in dance. 

 


Andre Drummond

Andre Christopher Drummond is from Queens, New York and began his classical training at Professional Performing Arts High School/ The Ailey School. Before, he was classically trained Andre danced with a step dancing Ministry called Nubian Gents and Feminine Fire where he toured both, Europe and Australia for two consecutive summers. After, graduating high school Andre was accepted into the University Of North Carolina School of the Arts for contemporary dance. There, he received his B.F.A and performed works by Jose Limon, Eliot Feld, Alwin Nikolais, Doug Elkins, Brenda Daniels, Sean Sullivan, Juel Lane, Bill T. Jones and ABT Principal Susan Jaffe. In his first steps of becoming a professional dancer Andre attended Springboard Dance summer of ‘13 in Montreal, Canada and Jacob’s Pillow Dance festival.
